Georgia Power presented a $25,000 check to the Arts & Cultural Authority of Claxton and Evans County for the authority’s project to restore the original Claxton High School two story building. Joel Hanner, Area Manager for Georgia Power made the presentation at the building on Tuesday, December 17th. This is the second contribution the company has made to the project, with their total gift now being $35,000.
“The Arts and Cultural Authority is grateful to Georgia Power for their partnership with this important project. We are blessed that so many community partners and individuals have joined us in assisting to make this project a reality,” said Adam Kennedy, Chair of the Authority.
The Authority is continuing to accept donations for the restoration project. There is also an opportunity for sponsorship of seats in the Joyce NeSmith Auditorium. The sponsorship of a seat is $300 each and can be in honor or memory of an individual. Contact the Chamber of Commerce if interested in sponsoring an auditorium seat. Anyone interested in assisting in the project can mail their donation to the Arts and Cultural Authority at P.O. Box 1, Claxton, Georgia.
